ZymeCO Welcomes Sudeep Sidhu, Ph.D., as Director of Agronomy
PRESS RELEASE • June 2, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Colorado Springs, CO — June 2, 2026 — ZymeCO is pleased to announce Sudeep Sidhu, Ph.D., as the company’s new Director of Agronomy. In this role, Dr. Sidhu will help lead ZymeCO’s agronomic strategy, research initiatives, field validation, and continued development of enzyme-based technologies for turfgrass, row crop, and specialty agriculture systems.

Dr. Sidhu brings extensive experience across academia, applied research, commercial agriculture, precision nutrient management, and sustainable cropping systems. His career has included research and leadership roles with the University of Georgia and the University of Florida, as well as hands-on agronomic experience managing large-scale vegetable and fruit production in Nevada.

Dr. Sidhu’s connection to ZymeCO’s technology is especially meaningful. As part of his doctoral research at the University of Georgia, he was the first person to research use of the enzyme Laccase in turfgrass systems for degrading thatch and organic matter. Sudeep developed early application protocols and utility patents which helped lay the foundation for future innovations in enzyme-based turf and agricultural applications.

“I am excited to work with ZymeCO because I have seen new applications develop from my initial research to serve a wider stakeholder base, including row crops and turfgrass,” said Dr. Sidhu. “Being part of this growth is what excites me the most.”

“Sudeep brings a rare combination of deep scientific knowledge, practical agronomic experience, and a clear understanding of how to move innovation from the lab to the field,” said Mark Slavens, CEO of ZymeCO. “We are excited to have him help guide the next stage of our growth.”

“Sudeep’s work helped shape some of the earliest understanding of how laccase enzymes could be applied in turfgrass systems,” said Phil Dwyer, Ph.D., VP of Sales & Marketing at ZymeCO. “Having him join ZymeCO is a full-circle moment, and his expertise will strengthen our research, support our customers, and help us continue expanding enzyme technology into new markets and applications.”

Born and raised in Punjab, India, Dr. Sidhu grew up on a diversified farm with row crop, dairy, and poultry operations. Outside of work, he enjoys morning and evening walks, watching movies, listening to music, playing the harmonium, and singing Punjabi and Hindi songs. He has two children, Bunny and Sammy.
